Addiction–Plain & Simple
I have decided to add this page to my site because although I concern myself mostly with substance abuse, which I know so very well by experience, I felt it is necessary, no, sorely needed to mention specifically “all” addiction and to offer encouragement. I will not create a blog under this page because those topics needing additional information can be covered in those blogs currently being considered and written, but let this page serve mostly as an introduction to this site’s true purpose, and this is to offer insight, encouragement and solutions to addiction which is destroying many lives.
It is time for pastors and ministers and churches to recognize perhaps every member in their pews this weekend, never mind those occupying the pulpit behind the Sacred Desk suffer from some sort of addiction, and our lives cannot grow further because we are filled with shame, guilt and fear of being discovered. We chose to blind ourselves to this fact, God knows what we are doing and not only is He not pleased, but He feels sorrow because you haven’t really come to Him for healing. You continue to fall back into this habit and have accepting this is the way it is and not accept the power of healing which He is so willing to offer. We need to breakthrough this belief and stop playing with ourselves–literally, and begin to live lives of fulfillment God has always wanted for us and designed us to be.
I was surprised to learn there are 547 categorized “philias” (form of love) or better known as “habits”. Please see the following link:
This explains why I decided at the age of 11 not to have children and today at age 52, I do not. I was too afraid to have my children suffer as I did because of my own “philias” so rooted by this time. It explains why I have been married 4 times and not married today. It is why I have suffered the indignity of prison, mental institutions and state registries. It is why you have trouble once logging onto the Internet. It is why some of you take longer to return home having gone for just a loaf of bread. It is why some of you lay by your spouse at night and cannot be affectionate. And this is why I am filled with a passion of ministry to deal with these issues when so many of us are embarrassed and shamed to do so.
While science so-called is searching for explanations which does not offer a pure solution and calls it a “disease”, I prefer to address it for what it is, “sin”. Those things we do in the darkness, the acts could be considered a disease, but it is a symptom of a much deeper problem. My Bible tells me Jesus went about “healing all manner of disease” but the truth of the matter is He did so much more than this. He healed the total person. As science continues to provide pills, counseling and other best efforts, God is willing and able to heal the root of the problem which is sin. If we would only allow Him to do this the symptoms of the philias would go away. We spend too much time dealing with the symptom and never touch upon the sin and this is why we are living frustrated lives and inability to communicate with each other in a loving and fulfilled way. We need to look at our symptoms differently and thank God because they are here to indicate to us a deeper problem and need to go to Him for healing of the sin in our lives. “How would we know we have sin had it not been for the Law?”
I invite you, today, to a challenge to begin addressing “sin” in its purest form in our church gatherings, meetings, personal prayer time to let God heal us from our “addiction” to sin so we may join with Him in the Kingdom.
